Sacred Heart Church

DAyton, Ohio

Project Description:
The Diocese of Cincinnati made the difficult decision to close the Sacred Heart Church but desired to maintain the structure so another Church congregation might utilize it at a later date.  The Diocese contracted Midwest Maintenance, Inc. to bring the structure to optimum condition.

Planning/Project Execution:
After the thorough evaluation of the structure the following components of the project were implemented:

  1. Cleaning of the exterior masonry.
  2. Spot tuckpointing.
  3. Water repellent.
  4. Wood and window repair.
  5. Exterior painting.
  6. Sheet metal repair.

With winter quickly approaching we started the project by cleaning and tuckpointing the structure.  The painters were right behind us trying to beat the cold weather.  We made sure all the gutters and downspouts were watertight.  We did some minor wood repair and finished with sealing the structure with a clear water repellent.

Summary:
After completion of the project, the Church waited in downtown Dayton, Ohio about one year before a Vietnamese congregation formed and took over the building.
