Project Description:
Our assignment was to complete a total exterior restoration of the Asheville City Building, a structure that was designed by renowned architect Douglas d. Ellington. The structure was an example of 20s Art-Deco architecture and was dedicated to the city of Asheville in 1928 in the hopes of reflecting the mountain background and colors of the local Asheville landscape.
Project Execution:
The scope of this project was extensive. Midwest Maintenance, Inc. completed the following tasks on this structure that towered 200 feet above the beautiful city of Asheville:
Summary:
The architect/engineer team of Ellen Harris and Bill Wescott assembled a team of experts from Florida, Illinois and North Carolina to develop a precise plan to restore this magnificent 70-year old building to its original grandeur. Employing a contractor from Ohio to execute the project originally proved to be controversial. However, as the project unfolded, Midwest Maintenance, Inc. proved that its wide range of restoration expertise qualified them as the best possible choice to restore one of Asheville’s most important architectural landmarks. City representative, the architect, and engineer were laudatory in their evaluation of the completed project. Midwest Maintenance, Inc. has since opened an office in Augusta, Georgia to expand its presence throughout the Southeast.
